Medical-grade thermocoagulation treatment for facial thread veins and broken capillaries — a precise, effective solution that allows unwanted vessels to be naturally reabsorbed.
Veinwave is a specialist medical treatment for thread veins (telangiectasia) and small broken capillaries — particularly on the face, nose, cheeks and legs. An ultra-fine probe delivers high-frequency current directly into the affected vessel, causing it to coagulate and close. The vessel is then naturally reabsorbed by the body over the following weeks.
Unlike laser or IPL treatments for thread veins, Veinwave uses thermocoagulation — direct energy delivery through a fine probe placed on the vessel. This allows extremely precise targeting of even the smallest capillaries, including the tiny telangiectasia around the nose and cheeks that are difficult to treat with light-based modalities.
At DermaMedica, Veinwave is performed by our clinical team following a detailed assessment of the affected vessels.
Your clinician assesses the affected thread veins, mapping the treatment area and determining the most appropriate technique for the size and distribution of vessels.
An ultra-fine probe is applied along the vessel. High-frequency current is delivered, causing the vessel to coagulate and close immediately. You will see the vessel disappear.
The coagulated vessel is naturally reabsorbed by the body over 2–6 weeks. Any treated vessels that persist after healing can be retreated in a follow-up session.
Treated vessels are permanently closed. However, new thread veins can develop over time due to the underlying tendency — maintenance treatment may be needed annually.
The sensation is a brief, mild sting with each probe contact — tolerated well by most patients without anaesthetic.
Treated vessels close immediately during treatment. The vessel gradually disappears over 2–6 weeks as it is reabsorbed.
Yes — Veinwave is effective for small leg thread veins and spider veins, though larger varicose veins require different treatments.
