Sculptra is a biostimulator — not a conventional filler. It uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) microparticles that, once injected, trigger your fibroblasts to produce new collagen. The result is a gradual, progressive improvement in facial volume and skin quality that looks entirely natural, because it is produced by your own body.

Because results develop over 3–6 months, Sculptra is ideal for patients who want a subtle, long-term transformation rather than an immediate volumisation. The improvements are gradual enough that colleagues and friends notice you look well — but cannot pinpoint exactly why.

Your Treatment Journey

Before

Avoid blood-thinning supplements for 48 hours. Come to your consultation prepared to discuss your aesthetic goals in detail.

During

Topical anaesthetic may be used. The product is injected using fine needles across the planned zones. Treatment takes 45–60 minutes.

After

Massage the treated areas for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days (the "5-5-5 rule"). Mild swelling and bruising possible for a few days.

Results

Results develop progressively over 3–6 months. Most patients require 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart for full effect.

Longevity

Results from a full course can last 2 years or more — significantly longer than conventional HA fillers. Maintenance sessions every 18–24 months.

How is Sculptra different from hyaluronic acid fillers?

HA fillers add immediate volume by attracting water. Sculptra stimulates your own collagen production — the volume and improvement come from your own biology, not an injected substance. Results are slower to appear but more gradual, natural and long-lasting.

How many sessions will I need?

Most patients require 2–3 sessions spaced 4–6 weeks apart. The number depends on the degree of volume loss and your desired outcome. A detailed consultation will provide a clear recommendation.

When will I see results?

Initial results may be visible from around 6 weeks as the collagen stimulation begins. The full effect is typically apparent at 3–6 months and continues to develop between sessions.

Is Sculptra permanent?

No — but it is long-lasting. Results typically last 2 years or more with a full course. The PLLA is fully biodegradable and absorbed by the body safely.

Can Sculptra be combined with other treatments?

Absolutely. Sculptra works excellently alongside PDO threads (which lift) and conventional fillers (which add immediate volume). Your clinician will design the optimal combination protocol.

Who is not suitable for Sculptra?

Sculptra is not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding, for those with active infection or inflammation, or those with a history of keloid scarring. A full medical assessment is required.

Are there any specific aftercare requirements?

Yes — the 5-5-5 rule: massage the treated area for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days after each session. This ensures even distribution of the product and optimal results.
