Venus Versa™ intense pulsed light targets sun damage, pigmentation, visible facial vessels and redness to restore a clearer, more even and radiant complexion.
IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) Photo Rejuvenation uses controlled pulses of broad-spectrum light to target specific chromophores in the skin — melanin (pigmentation) and oxyhaemoglobin (blood vessels). The light energy is absorbed by the target and broken down, while leaving surrounding tissue unaffected.
At DermaMedica, we use the Venus Versa™ platform — one of the most advanced IPL systems available — which delivers precise, consistent energy for safe and effective treatment of sun damage, age spots, freckles, rosacea and visible facial capillaries.
Results develop over a course of 3–5 sessions as pigmentation gradually rises to the surface and disperses. Skin tone becomes progressively more even and radiant with each treatment.
Light energy is calibrated to target melanin (for pigmentation) or oxyhaemoglobin (for vascular concerns). The target absorbs the energy and is broken down.
Pigmented lesions darken briefly then naturally flake away over 7–14 days. Treated blood vessels collapse and are reabsorbed by the body over several weeks.
With each session, skin tone becomes more even and radiant. Most patients require 3–5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart for optimal results.
The sensation is often described as a brief snap or flick — like a rubber band. It is well-tolerated by most patients. A cooling tip minimises discomfort.
Yes, temporarily. Treated pigmented lesions darken for 7–14 days before naturally flaking away — this is a completely normal and expected part of the process.
IPL is not suitable for very dark skin tones (Fitzpatrick V–VI) due to the risk of treating melanin in the skin rather than just in the lesion. Your clinician will assess your skin type at consultation.
Typically 3–5 sessions spaced 4 weeks apart for a full treatment course.
Yes — IPL is one of the most effective treatments for rosacea and facial redness, targeting the visible blood vessels that cause chronic redness.

Every patient is different. If this treatment isn't the right fit, one of these alternatives may be exactly what you need.
Combine Dermalux LED with IPL for comprehensive rosacea management — IPL targets vessels while LED soothes inflammation.
Alternate IPL with PRX-T33 peel sessions for comprehensive pigmentation and skin quality improvement.
After completing your IPL course, microneedling improves skin texture to complement your clearer, more even complexion.
